I’ve always been sort of on the fence about Diptyque. Alas, one should never say never. This weekend we stayed in a suite at The Langham Pasadena for our wedding, and I fell in love with the fragrance of their shower amenities. After I ran through the Malin + Goetz kit we packed, I begrudgingly dispensed some of the unmarked, mysterious Diptyque shower gel and body milk. In classic amenities fashion, this is an ambiguous, white label scenario. Brands commonly adapt their DTC formulas at scale for “exclusive” hotel variants, making it tricky to pin down exactly what you’re using and near impossible to purchase. After a deep dive on Reddit, the consensus on the closest fragrance from the brand’s mainline assortment is Eau de Sens, which leans heavily on every part of the bitter orange tree, including neroli, bigarade, and orange blossom EO. Aromatic, green facets like angelica and juniper add zest. I’ve ordered a bottle of the shower geland will report back my findings. Fingers crossed it’s a dead ringer for the Langham scent.
